This piece highlights how I like to write. Generally, I like to focus on writing hard news that is relatively short, sticking to the necessary details and nothing else.
This story was an absolute joy to write. It was an introduction to the challenges of reaching out to someone in a position of power for me. When my editor first told me I would have to try and get in touch with a representative of the United States House, I had to ask twice because I was not sure I heard them correctly. However, with the right guidance and repeated emails, we eventually managed to get some information from their office. This was an amazing experience in learning about patience and the amount of determination you need to create something unique.
